September Newsletter

We're in September already and the last rays of summer sunshine are shining through the clouds. We'll be rolling out our Autumn collection here at La Petite Bouchée in the coming months. Autumn It's my favourite season and one where we get to indulge in rib-sticking decadence, big bold wines and wood smoke filled air. September's menu includes some lighter dishes as well as some more autumn inspired dishes .. It's the best of both worlds.

Entrées


Ours starters this month include a colourful flavour-packed Ratatouille served with a choice of fresh goats or soft homemade Labneh cheese. Our fish entrée is our ever popular handmade Salmon Rillettes served with crispy french toast and new to the menu this month our ham, fig and roquefort parcels ...figs stuffed with blue cheese then wrapped in ham and baked. A perfect combination of sweet, savoury and salty.



Mains


As well as our favourites this month we have delicious hand cut pork chops served with a homemade Dijon mustard sauce. We'll also we serving Trout en Papillote. Delicious trout with Provençal vegetables, oil and a splash of vermouth then baked in a parcel. For our vegetarian / vegan guests this month we've got wonderful root vegetable tart tatin glazed with a honey and mustard glaze. We'll also be serving up Patates au Vin which is a vegetarian version of the classic Coq au Vin. It's packed full of Vegetables and cooked in a red wine and brandy sauce. BOOK SEPTEMBER



Desserts


Our desserts have already caused quite a storm since we announced them. We'll be launching our Chocolate Crêpe Cake, layers of Crêpes spread with whipped cream mixed with cocoa and chopped nuts. We'll be aiming for 18-20 layers. This will then be smothered in rich chocolate sauce and left to chill. The second in our classic Strawberry Vacherin, meringue nests filled with freshly made vanilla ice cream and Strawberries and berries, served with a strawberry sauce on the side. Sharing

Don't forget our sharing dishes, We've got amazing racks of lamb, whole chickens and Côte de Boeuf. Just let us know how you'd like them cooked and we'll serve them up on platters for you to carve. Just let us know if you'd prefer us to do it and we'd be happy to help. Big shout out to our amazing butcher Shapland and Searle in South Molton for the most outstanding beef and lamb this last weekend.

DEVON PRESERVE US !


We've been very busy making lots of chutneys, mustards, vinaigrettes, oils and vinegars. We'll be selling them in the restaurant and have no plans for mail order or selling locally. Like at Christmas we're happy for you to order them and pick them up should you prefer. We'll have the full range available this week together with a price list which you can find on our Facebook page.




Finally ...

Cross Everything for us on September 12th when we find out if we've won the overall Taste of The West Best Restaurant Award. We're in the top 10% best restaurants in the SW as a finalist but the big one would be the icing on the cake for us.
