There are hints of spring everywhere in spite of the rather chilly day. The first seeds are in Nigel and Linzi's new green house and we're crossing everything for an abundant crop this year.

We've just taken part in this year's Exmoor Food Festival. It's always great to showcase the great ingredients we have here on our doorstep and meet lots of new customers taking part and visiting all of the other restaurants taking part.

We were honoured to take part in the Celebration of Exmoor Beef over at The Farmers Arms in Coombe Florey last week as part of the festival and even more delighted that our course was voted second by diners attending. Thanks goes to Head Chef Mike Griffiths and his team for their wonderful hospitality on the night.

Here's what Martin Hesp at The Western Daily Press thought in his piece on the event on Saturday.

“The dry aged fillet Carpaccio prepared by Anita-Clare Field was a triumph that would have found a place in the very best Italian restaurants anywhere in the world”

Like last year we are following the Exmoor Food Festival with a our Mad As A March Hare Event with a mighty 20% off dining throughout March. Simply book using the code MADHARE2019. This offer is not available on March 15 or 16th

We've got some fantastic things on the menu including home-smoked Trout Pâte, Pork stuffed with wild mushrooms with Madeira Sauce. Superb fish, steaks and our delicious Chickens are back this month too. There's also classic creme caramel/chocolate tart or cheese to finish.

March sees us off to French Canada for a traditional feast of Poutine, Lobsters, Beaver tails and of course that all important Bloody Caeser. Friday 15th is FULLY BOOKED and we have just a couple of tables left on Saturday 16th for what promises to be a fabulous event.
