The clocks have gone back, the temperature's dropped like a stone and even I am wearing socks today. Well that was an October and a half, it seemed to zip by in the blink of an eye.
Some of our best highlights included The announcement that we are in the final 5 for Best Restaurant/Bistro in the Devon Tourism Awards. We also received our feedback from the Taste of The West judges who awarded our third gold and awarded us a finalist in the Best Restaurant SW category. Chef/Patron Anita-Clare chose her Devon Island Discs on Radio Devon with Caroline Cook and we hosted Louise and Richard's Wedding Reception, an autumnal woodland theme and we were absolutely delighted to welcome the happy couple, their family and friends. Huge congratulations Louise and Richard we hope you'll be very happy !
This Saturday past, we welcomed lovely Victoria Graham to the restaurant. I have been pulling her leg for well over a year now about coming. Victoria and I are both judges at Taste of The West, although I guess she's probably best known for being a terrific anchor on BBC Spotlight. There was a real buzz in the restaurant all weekend and we loved every minute.
How on earth do we top that in November? Well we can all cross everything crossable on November 28th at the Devon Tourism awards in Torquay. We will either be awarded a bronze, silver or gold. Any of which we'll be super proud to be awarded. We're also serving up some delicious winter warmers in November.
Our scrumptious Cheese Boule for two is back, with a selection of crudités. New on the menu twice baked Smoked Haddock Soufflé and old favourite Roasted Shallot Tarte, Navarin of Lamb is our main of the month and for vegetarians and vegans our Vegetable Tagine made with home-blended spices with Herbed Cous-Cous with a Whole Seabass for our fish lovers. For dessert Pear Tarte and classic Crème Caramel.
Village weekend is upon us this weekend and if you haven't booked yet we still have a bit of room left on each night. If you live within a 15 mile radius of Witheridge, do join us and enjoy village prices.
